Who are we?
Our story
Three years ago we moved to Budens and quickly fell in love with life in the Western Algarve after spending eight years living in South Africa. We now share our home with a well-travelled geriatric cat who made the journey with us from London, an energetic border collie, and a very large, very lazy local ginger cat who seems to have adopted us along the way.
Our guest room is a simple and comfortable annexe attached to our home, designed especially as a peaceful resting point for walkers on the Fishermen’s Trail and travellers exploring this beautiful corner of Portugal.
Our room
The room can be arranged as either twin beds or one king-size bed to suit your stay.
We provide tea and filter coffee, and we are happy to arrange a simple breakfast for you to enjoy under the nespera tree in the garden.
Guests are also welcome to cool off with a dip in the pool or make use of the washing machine after a long day on the trail.
For supplies, the Intermarché supermarket is only a five-minute walk away. There is also an excellent local pizza restaurant nearby, and if you’d prefer a quiet evening in, we’re happy to collect takeaway for you.
We hope to offer a relaxed, welcoming space where guests can rest, recharge, and enjoy the slower pace of the Algarve.

Where are we?
Nestled in the heart of the Western Algarve, Budens is a traditional Portuguese village that offers a peaceful alternative to the busier resort towns further east. Surrounded by rolling countryside and just minutes from some of the region's most beautiful beaches, it is the perfect base for exploring this spectacular corner of Portugal.
Despite its convenience, Budens has retained its authentic Algarve charm, with whitewashed houses, friendly locals and a relaxed pace of life.
For walkers, Budens is ideally located near the famous Fishermen's Trail, with dramatic coastal paths, hidden coves and breathtaking Atlantic Ocean views nearby. The stunning beaches of Salema, Boca do Rio and Burgau are all just a short drive away, while the historic town of Lagos and the wild landscapes of the Costa Vicentina Natural Park are easily accessible.
